This unique and sustainable development, located in the heart of King’s Cross, sees the replacement of a two storey warehouse with a four storey BREEAM Excellent office development.
Plantworks features the first office installed with an integrated urban plantation, providing a highly biophilic environment for the end users. Well-designed and high end office spaces are cleverly provided over all four levels, amongst the plantation, with the building’s plant contained in the basement as well as on the second floor.
The office has been designed to enhance the overall working environment and provide a next-gen approach to commercial space. Thermal comfort and air quality for employees has been put first and foremost in the design, nurturing wellbeing.
Users can engage with the urban plantation, taking charge of looking after it and benefiting from its yields. It also offers cycle storage, green roof, intelligent lighting system and a café serving locally sourced products.
MNE provided a full MEP design from RIBA 3-5, including simplified building energy modelling. This enabled the end user to understand the energy needed to heat, cool, ventilate and light the space over the first 12 months, which is one of the requirements for achieving BREEAM Excellent.
