Highwood received planning permission for a new 67-bed care home on land in Selborne Road in Alton, Hampshire. The project is another for Highwood’s partnership with Octopus Real Estate’s flagship Octopus Health Fund and Hartford Care, the leading UK care provider.
The care home will offer en-suite wet rooms and nursing stations and a range of luxurious communal lounges and dining rooms as well as hair and beauty rooms, a cinema and gym. Training rooms, offices and kitchens will also be housed in the main care home block.
MNE Building Services Ltd undertook the full MEP design, which included a commercial kitchen ventilation design and commercial air to water air source heat pumps (ASHP's) providing the heating and hot water throughout the building. To maximise efficiency the heating and hot water ASHP's were designed as separate systems with high temperature CO2 heat pumps utilised for the hot water system.
MNE incorporated BREEAM measures into the MEP design, such as leak detection to ensure the building achieved its 'Excellent' BREEAM status.
Project to be commissioned and handed over in 2025.
